Maddie Castillo is a literary and performing artist, an art and event producer, and an aspiring curator from the Philippines.

She seeks to share untold tales, drawing on her years of experience in creative writing, journalism, theater, education, public relations, and communications.

Maddie’s storytelling centers on music, culture, performing, and the arts. Her works have been published on reputable sites across Southeast Asia, including Bandwagon Asia, Cosmopolitan, and Rappler. She has also been featured in a Netflix documentary on Manila nightlife culture.

During her formative years, she received training in both the performance and production aspects of theater. This influenced the endeavors she pursued later in life, such as producing music videos and documentaries. At present, she is co-writing a musical with a Chicago-based, women-led organization that advocates for Filipino immigrant families and BIPOC healthcare workers in the US.

Maddie has also led marketing, PR, communications, and business development consultation programs for artists, MSMEs, and non-profit organizations. She currently serves as Head of Marketing for a forest park and events venue.

She is a staunch advocate of authentic education, agriculture, environmental sustainability, and cultural preservation and integration, leading her to contribute to programs both locally and internationally. She has contributed to a local program that advocates for responsible tourism in the surf town of La Union, has witnessed and documented the US-wide tour of an Indigenous dance troupe from Lake Sebu in Mindanao, and has co-led a community collage art workshop and exhibit in Shimoda, Japan.

During her free time, Maddie enjoys visiting museums, watching gigs, learning about chocolate, and playing with her dogs. She currently resides in Baguio City.
